Forget business or economy. The likes of Donald Trump and Jay-Z don’t even have to slum it with millionaires in first class. Buckle up for a tour of the world’s best celebrity private jets.
Luxury private jets are still the ultimate travel accessory for any self-respecting mega-celebrity – and even the US President.
1) Donald Trump
Private jet sales are set to rebound now that Donald Trump is a fixture in the White House.
During the US election campaign, the 45th President jetted around in his own $100 million Boeing 757-200. The aircraft features 24-carat gold-plated fixtures, seats embossed with the Trump family crest and a movie theatre.
Size matters to President Trump. in 2015, he told Rolling Stone magazine that his private plane “was bigger than Air Force One, which is a step down from this in every way”.
Liberals laughed. They ain’t laughing now.
2) Jay-Z
What do you give the man who has everything on Father’s Day? Beyonce decided husband Jay-Z had enough socks and so bought him a $40 million Bombardier Challenger 850 Learjet instead.
Luxurious leather adorns the living space and there’s also a kitchen, bedroom and two bathrooms. The jet, manufactured by Bombardier Aerospace, can carry the superstar couple, their daughter Blue and at least 12 more passengers.
3) Bill Gates
Bill Gates, the world’s most famous philanthropist and richest person, is unlikely to travel economy. Instead, the Microsoft co-founder jets around the world in his “guilty pleasure”, a Bombardier BD-700 Global Express.
The opulent celebrity private jet, known as the Global 5000, typically costs around $40 million and seats up to 19 people. Moreover, it features a lounge/bedroom, two toilets and a full galley.
4) Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise shot to fame as a maverick fighter pilot in Top Gun. However, in reality the 55-year-old Hollywood actor lets someone else fly his jet, a Gulfstream IVSP. The aircraft, which costs around $36 million, can fly up to 14 passengers for nearly 5,000 miles without refuelling.
5) Celine Dion
Question: what do Celine Dion and Bill Gates have in common? Answer: an impressive vocal range.
Actually, it’s the Bombardier BD-700 Global Express private jet. The diva purchased her XRS version – around $42 million to own or $8,000 an hour to charter – for personal transport.
