Samsung Electronics has unveiled an all-in-one contactless ordering and payment kiosk dubbed Samsung Kiosk, which is now available in 12 countries.

The kiosk is said to offer easy installation options for customers and has a protective coating. Currently, it is available in the US, Canada, the UK, France, Sweden, Australia, Spain, Singapore and other countries.

Samsung Electronics visual display business senior vice president Hyesung Ha said: “Kiosks have quickly become a part of everyday life, providing customers with a simple and interactive way to purchase items while giving businesses an innovative solution to reimagine the workplace and increase efficiency.

“Samsung’s new all-in-one Kiosk is a smart and seamless solution, offering all the right features needed for businesses.”

Samsung Kiosk comes with a 24-inch touchscreen display powered by the company’s System on Chip (SoC) technology. The Kiosk removes the need for having an external computer.

It is said to adopt a modular design to offer a range of payment options, which include a cradle for Europay, MasterCard, and Visa terminals. The kiosk also has barcode and QR code readers in addition to a Wi-Fi system and built-in printer.

Samsung Kiosk employs a three-layer security protection that is powered by Samsung Knox technology. According to Samsung, the Knox technology is designed to safeguard the kiosk’s hardware, payment platform and application, and also customer information.

Through a Linux-based open-source operating system powered by Tizen, the Samsung Knox technology also supports application development. It offers high compatibility and supports HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, and other web standard technologies to enable developers to create a range of software applications that can be integrated into Samsung Kiosk.

Joining the Samsung Tizen Kiosk ecosystem are over 20 fintech and point of sales (POS) solution partners. These include GRUBBRR, Nanonation, Softpoint, Big Digital, 900 Solutions, EuroPOS, Nowbusking, and Global P.O.S.

GRUBBRR CEO Sam Zietz said: “As GRUBBRR’s innovative self-ordering solutions are introduced into Samsung’s powerful and responsive Tizen Platform, we are excited to showcase the innovative kiosk with higher stability and performance.”
