Google Cloud and Canadian telecommunications company TELUS have joined forces for co-innovating on new services and solutions to drive digital transformation within key industries.

The 10-year collaboration between the parties will target industries such as communications technology, healthcare, security, agriculture, and connected home.

Google Cloud alongside TELUS will develop new industry solutions and go-to-market strategies for driving growth in adjacent industries.

The partners will focus on redefining the manner in which healthcare and agriculture solutions are delivered. For this, the companies aim to boost collaboration and efficiency between healthcare providers, enhance food traceability, and help business clients to optimise their IT and network operations.

Google Cloud and TELUS will also work together on the evolution of entertainment and smart home technology. For this, they plan to provide families and businesses with advanced connectivity, control, and convenience.

Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said: “We are proud to partner with TELUS to help fuel a fundamental shift to digital, leveraging data and AI to create valuable insights and improve customer experiences in multiple verticals.

“We operate the cleanest cloud in the industry, and this partnership demonstrates the potential of what’s possible when you combine technology and innovation with a commitment to create a more sustainable world.”

According to Google Cloud, the partnership with the Canadian communications technology company will also fast track the latter’s IT and network modernisation initiatives.

By accelerating its public cloud adoption on Google Cloud’s enterprise platform, TELUS is expected to increase its operational agility and provide improved customer experiences.

TELUS President and CEO Darren Entwistle said: “Our strategic partnership with Google will propel our digital leadership across the communications technology, healthcare and agriculture sectors, whilst amplifying our Customers First priority, redefining how service is delivered in Canada and globally.

“As world leaders in social capitalism, our organisations will leverage the potency of our technology to create meaningful human and social outcomes, as we continue to build stronger, healthier and more sustainable communities.”

The companies have also agreed to continue to partner with digital customer experience (CX) innovator TELUS International, which helps enterprises in meeting their digital transformation objectives.
