Fujitsu, a Japanese information and communications technology (ICT) company, has announced a five-year partnership with Microsoft to drive sustainability transformation.

As per the terms of the agreement, both companies will invest in the expansion of Fujitsu’s Uvance business. Uvance was launched by the Japanese group in late 2021 as a global business brand to deliver a transformation portfolio for a sustainable world.

By utilising Microsoft Cloud and technologies, the collaboration expects to digitally modernise the development of more sustainable practices and solutions for organisations worldwide to meet societal needs and explore new streams of business growth.

Fujitsu and Microsoft also aim to help more organisations to rapidly respond to quick changes in the environment, and assist hospitals transform their operations to improve patient experiences.

Besides, the companies intend to bring more stability to supply chain challenges.

The collaboration between the companies is also expected to utilise Fujitsu’s industry innovations and Microsoft’s technology to co-develop and deploy a range of cloud solutions across manufacturing, healthcare, retail, and the public sector.

Microsoft chairman and CEO Satya Nadella said: “We have an opportunity to help organisations in every industry apply the latest innovations across the cloud and this new generation of AI to accelerate business growth and operate more sustainably.

Through the partnership, both companies will support digitised manufacturing sites to make use of Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability to develop solutions through Fujitsu Sustainable Manufacturing.

It is expected to assist enterprises to more seamlessly visualise risks associated with rapid environmental change.

Fujitsu’s Consumer Experience is expected to allow consumer businesses to meet the rising demand to improve customers’ business operations by developing smart retail solutions.

By leveraging Microsoft cloud technology, Fujitsu Healthy Living aims to support help more organisations globally to secure patient data, enhance medical care quality, and streamline medical institution operations.
